That is perfectly okay! We hear this concern often, and a high-energy dog is a dog with a big personality. We don’t expect perfect behavior. Our sessions are very laid back; we like to start with play and action shots to let them burn off energy and be themselves. We have years of experience and countless tricks for working with pups of all personality types.

Please do not worry. We pride ourselves on creating a safe, calm environment for every animal. With an extensive background in animal health and behavior, we are adept at reading body language and building trust slowly. We start with longer lenses to give your pet space, use positive reinforcement, and never force an interaction. We have had great success with reactive or anxious dogs, often by choosing quiet locations for early morning sessions when there are fewer distractions.

No, and in fact, we prefer they stay on-leash for safety! About 95% of the dogs we photograph remain on a leash for the entire session. The leash is magically removed from your final purchased images during our post production process at no extra charge, ensuring your pet's safety without compromising the beauty of the photo.

Absolutely! We love capturing the relationship between pets and their people and will photograph you both together and your dog by itself.

We are on location photographers who love exploring the beauty of West Michigan. We choose spots based on lighting, low foot traffic, and a variety of backgrounds. We have a long list of favorite quiet locations, including

Wahlfield Park, Dwight L.ydell Park, Riverside Park, Seidman Park, Townsend Park, and Aman Park. We can also come to your own property if that’s where your pet is most comfortable.

We schedule sessions 7 days a week, typically in the early morning or early evening within two hours of sunrise or sunset. This "golden hour" light is the most flattering for portraits and avoids the harsh, contrasty light of midday.

We will absolutely reschedule if it is raining heavily or if there are other unsafe conditions like extreme heat or high winds. Cloudy days, however, often provide beautiful, soft light, so we will typically proceed with sessions on overcast days. If we need to reschedule due to weather, we will provide a rain date to photograph within 7-10 days of the original date.

These sessions are our highest priority. If you are facing the difficult decision to say goodbye to your beloved companion, please let us know. We will do everything in our power to adjust our schedule and fit you in as soon as possible, often within 24-48 hours.

Please bring your pet’s favorite toys and some high value treats. It’s also a great idea to have water and a bowl, a towel in case they get dirty, and any special accessories like bandanas or collars you’d like to include.
